Magpie Tales # 33

A Parma Violet Memory

An
ancient
pottery
flagon adorned
 Auntie's mantelpiece,
hand painted violets
flaunting their precious petals
to remind us of their perfume,
whose aroma lingered on, wraith-like,
long after the container was empty.

  14. I love that the fragance lingered "wraith-like", its unexpected. And the poem shape fits so well to the idea of a flask. lovely

  15. Jinksy . . . Parma violets ARE "purple", so that's two syllables wasted. Repeat for all the other adjectives. All writers . . when are you going to learn that the so-called "descriptive" parts of speech do not make your writing more descriptive.
