March Hares danced and leapt and boxed.
The reason why? Well, it had me foxed.
Spring Fever could be what's to blame -
unless they do it for a game.
A spirited, abandoned bunny
is such a sight - it's really funny-
for sparring without boxing gloves
Gosh, they look like they mean business!
ReplyDeleteIt's always such a delight to see hares but they are such secretive creatures that it's only in the mating season that I manage occasionally to see them. Now rabbits - our imported furries - are everywhere!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful photo - it really captures the spirit of the female explaining that she's not in the mood!
I've just discovered that hares were imported by the Romans - and all my life I've believed they were native Britons!!
ReplyDeleteJabblog- I think you’ll find the females don’t box – they only watch as the males battle for their favours!
ReplyDeleteOops - got that wrong, it seems! According to the BBC you're right, Jabblog!
ReplyDeletewhat a hare raising experience...saw plenty of rabbits where i grew up...
ReplyDeleteAre they kin to kangaroos-?
ReplyDeletegood poem thanks!
...showing their manly muscles? So funny to see them "sparring" like this - they don't look very cuddly... I saw a lot of jack rabbits when we lived in Texas. Interesting "country" way down south! :)
ReplyDeleteLovely bouncy poem Jinksy!
ReplyDeleteI can remember the days when men used to fight over me.... well, in my dreams they did!
