Mr Bond beside the Queen
in a copter? What a scene!
British humour at its best
is always better than the rest,
never mind ‘who gets what’ gold,
when a story need be told
our G.B. is right in line
to tell a cracker, every time-
cinema, literature, theatre too-
We’re a very arty crew.
A 55 for G-Man - late, but worth it!
Good evening dear Jinksy,
ReplyDeleteI haven't been in Blogworld for a while, but it is nice to be greeted by such a wonderful witty poem :-) Hubs and I enjoyed watching the opening ceremony yesterday and we did love it that Queen Elizabeth played this role in it. I'm pretty sure our Queen Beatrix wouldn't have joined in the fun like that. Your Queen rocks :-)
I couldn't agree more! We are lucky to have had her around for so long. :)
DeleteYou are so smart!!! I love your cheerful 55! I am so proud that you are English! Have you a blessed weekend! hugs shakira
ReplyDeleteMine is here
Thank you for being one of the few '55'ers who know how to put a proper link in a comment - I wish more of them would bother to learn it too! Next I shall hop to see your offering - the easy way!
DeleteIt was a very splendid and quirky ceremony. All that's best about this place.
ReplyDeleteAs somebody on TV said, it was Bold, Bonkers and British! Says it all... :)
DeleteHa. Very nice support for GB.
ReplyDelete(I tried to comment on one of your other blogs, the post about the snakes, but had too hard a time with the verification. You might get more comments if you delete the word verification. It's hard to see sometimes. Well, for me anyway. Just a thought.)
(Oops. I don't know how to put a link in a comment. Now I must make time to learn.)
As far as I know , I don't have word verification on any of my blogs! I hate it as much as you do! I'll certainly go and check - but nor can I think of any post about snakes? :)
DeleteP.S. Myrna - and anybody else - email me direct, and I'll explain the comment/link process for you. Can't reply otherwise, as you don't have your email enabled.
DeleteI LOVED that scene! In fact, I loved the entire Opening Ceremony. British humor, music, literature--and the Queen. Who could ask for anything more?
ReplyDeleteYou'll get no argument from this Monty Python fan.
ReplyDeleteHi Jinksy - I also am having a hard time commenting. The Add Comment thing took a long time to come up. Maybe it's my computer though, but it seemed very delayed. Great 55, and kudos for the Queen and the Brits! k.
ReplyDeletea perfect 55 for the most special occasion! i don't have cable or satellite tv and cannot get the local channel which is covering the Olympics. i did see a summarized version of the opening ceremonies on the news and it looked spectacular!

Great topical 55 Jinksy - well done!
ReplyDeleteSaw the direct telecast of the Opening. Was spectacular with things British on show. You did very well to cover the 55 over a such a grand affair! Great write Jinsky!
ReplyDeleteHank
Yes, a very arty crew. I loved the opening ceremony and I "got" the humor, which is not always true in my case when it comes to British humor! IT was wonderful. So is your 55. :)
ReplyDeleteMs. Jinksy...
ReplyDeleteI LOVED the Queen's acting debut.
But then again I think that she does a great job of acting whenever she's around Camilla...
Loved your very late 55
Thanks for playing, and have a Kick Ass Week
