Dandelions

Life force
from gold petals
spawns fairy-clock seeds
in clusters, waiting for a waft
of wind.

Perhaps
some flower whorls
are harvested instead
by a maker of wine-heady
liquid...

Its taste
will please the tongue,
but maybe not the head.
If taken to excess, beware
it's strength!

Cinquains to tell it like it is for Tess at the Mag 169, where she featured Lighthouse Dandelions by Jamie Wyeth from which I took this snippet for inspiration.

  2. Dandelion wine, eh? Sounds very tasty. And a masterstroke to throw that horrid yellow building away.

  7. Love it! A cautionary poem for the gardener and the tipler ... too much of a good thing is not a good thing. Great offering this week!

  8. Years ago I tried Dandelion wine. Didn't find it appealing but I guess others do!

    1. I must admit, in the days of my youth, it was the only drink which made me feel squiffy after two glasses! I never repeated this experience, but I always enjoyed just the one glass, in future. lol

  10. Love your crop and manipulation of the prompt, and your writing. Ahhhhh, dandelion wine...never had it but loved the tales my mother would tell of making and enjoying it. Perhaps one day. Thanks for your comment, it's fun to be back here.
