Icon for 2012

Like a study for a stained glass window
she sits in passive stillness, watching him
take her photograph, this prying artist
who unthinkingly captures her spirit.

She lacks energy to protest. Instead,
she has withdrawn into a time and a place
where she can ignore his reality.

We are left to wonder what she might say
if her image could come to life and speak.

Once again, Thanks to Tess for her Mag 142, which sets our creative juices flowing.

  1. I think she would be saying:
'Hurry up and take the damn picture' lol

RYN: About her beauty, apparently, it was Charis herself who didn't consider herself a beauty. I personally think, she is.

    1. I did indeed, Doc, but Boots plus Icon didn't make a good team for a stained glass image...
I thought they made her look like a human grasshopper.:)

    1. I was more aware of her inner strength, I think, although I knew nothing about her when I created the 'window'...

  9. I love the stained glass image you were able to find in the photograph, Jinksy. It's lovely in it's own way. And I do wonder what Charis was thinking as she sat, what she might have said. Thank you for sharing. =D

  11. I bet she would have a ton to say if she could speak now! I see her strength and with that, I bet a whole lot of attitude!

  12. Interesting that you should see the Islamic picture, too. That's what struck me immediately I saw the prompt, for I had no idea who the woman was, and didn't Google to find out, preferring to use my gut reaction to it to inspire some words.

  15. A conversation would have been fantastic. She looks gutsy. Even cropped off at the boots!

  16. Oh I truly think she'd have lots to share indeed! I actually saw a recent video taken about a year before she died- a lady she would have been to know in real life!

  22. I see her expression as serene, not "lacking energy to protest." But I do wonder what she was thinking...
