but that bed is not inviting.
Both it and rubbish strewn around
shrink from such floodlighting.
Moonbeams say " We will not sleep,
but stay awake all night,
search-lighting through the blue-black sky
though trying not to weep.
We cannot find a place to rest
so have to do what we do best -
play evening peek a boo with stars
round Earth and Venus!" Even Mars
cheers on their games,
" Go to it, children!" he declaims.
"Forget the bed and let it lie
and hide its face in shame,
while you skip round the whole night long
'til sun-flares fling their flames."
Written for The Mag, with thanks to Tess and Tracey Emin
Thank goodness for a bit of light relief!
ReplyDeleteThere's a lot of gloom around in the Magpies this week - all light must be welcome. I reckon. :)
DeleteLet the light shine....nicely done
ReplyDeleteEspecially moon light, eh?
DeleteI like the idea of hiding Emin's disreputable bed under black plastic sheets. And the moonlight effect is very well rendered. Well done.
ReplyDeleteNooo! Those are satin sheets, not plastic - though I agree, black bin liners could come in very useful for all the rubbish...
DeleteI love to hear the words of moonbeams, especially in your poem, well done.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't everyone want to hear moonbeams whispering?
DeleteI love the way you alter the images to suit your poems! Whispering moonbeams, yes! (and a chuckle or two) Thank you.
ReplyDeleteIt's more that my altered images inspire me with alternative poetic ramblings. :)
DeleteLove the artistic interpretation and poetry!
ReplyDeleteThis was fun to read! Thanks for a bit of comic relief!
ReplyDeleteAh, a happy take on this!
ReplyDeleteI think we covered the whole solar system in this one , mate !
ReplyDeleteExcellent poem and I view this bed needs to be in black plastic bin liners!
ReplyDeleteAs a committed insomniac, I'd be more than happy to spend a starry night here!
ReplyDeleteLovely happy bouncy write. Thanks Jinksy.
ReplyDeleteAnna :o]
You cleaned up before you wrote, Obsessive compulsive! I would have too but I was too tired. Full of fun as usual, Jinksy.
ReplyDeleteWell that was delightful...
ReplyDeleteI love this! I'll try and think of this - and be less irritated - the next time the full moon wakes me up.
