On Stage

The Play’s The Thing

A sudden shutter clicks and doorways open.
Sunlight lays its hands upon my head
and energy cascades about my form.
It brings a scene shift on the stage of life
and I, as actor, need a different script
to follow.  Playwright, do you heed my words?
The backdrop changes daily. I have learned
that standing in the wings is not enough.
It's time to enter right and play my part.

  2. true...life doesnt wait on us to decide to wake up and play our part
and all too often we need to find a new script to go with it...smiles.

  3. The decision to play does not come easy. I have been known to cower in the shadows hoping that the lights are cut off.

    Enjoy your weekend Jinksy.

  6. I'm glad there's someone else who feels the script is changing faster than the scenery.

  7. A good poem to think on... takes courage to go onstage but it is what we're meant to do.

  8. True, clever. The play not only captures a conscience, it also brings one alive.

  10. I suffer from stage fright, both in the real world and in the mind, but the times I've forced myself to perform on an actual stage it's always felt better afterwards. I can't remember what's happened on stage, but that's OK once it's over. We all have to try though... Very inspiring poem!

  16. I wish there were a producer and director to find me the right script. All this impromptu acting can be a challenge. Nice writing.

  17. Ah, wonderful! This reminds me of the quote,
“All the world's a stage and most of us are desperately unrehearsed.” ― Seán O'Casey
